USB Redirection (xfreerdp or rdesktop) How to?
Hello guys!

I wanted to use Raspberry Pi 2, to work as Thin client (into Win7 or Win8).
But how do I redirect the USB ports to the server? (using xfreerdp or rdesktop)

I tried to somehow share the folder, where USB mounts and it works only with Win7. I do not see shared folder in Win8 Sad

Is there any possibility to redirect hot plugged USB disk?

I hope you understood my question.

Thank for any suggestions!

You can add to the config options of xfreerdp: /drive:'USB0,/media/usb0'
or to rdesktop: -r disk:USB=/media/usb0

Here the official manuals:
https://github.com/FreeRDP/FreeRDP/wiki/...eInterface
http://linux.die.net/man/1/rdesktop

Anyway to make it automatically detect the USB without doing all of that stuff? Or does the server need to be configured for that?

You can use the /usb:rules:allow command option in freerdp for a generic USB redirection

Do you mind posting a step-by-step tutorial on how I would be able to do this?

Just edit the xFreeRDP (there is also equivalent flags for dFreeRDP and RDesktop) config file (by right click on the desktop, RPiTC Settings, edit xfreerdp config) and add a line:
+fonts -sec-nla /rfx /soundConfusedys:alsa /cert-ignore /size:1280x720 /usb:rules:allow

Thank you, but I decided to use dFreeRDP. How would I go about doing this?

Hi,

it's no wonder that usb redirection isn't working, there is a missing lib in the last release 1.4:

Look here: http://forum.armtc.net/showthread.php?tid=1708

RE: USB Redirection (xfreerdp or rdesktop) How to?
Hi,

Sorry to unearth that thread but I already found help on it, so I wanted to add it for next users, maybe ?

So here's my question :

Is it possible to lock the usb folders on the Rpi ?
For example, USB thumbs can only mount on media/usb0 or media/usb1 folders and nothing else ?

Because today, I have to mount 4 folders to be sure the USB thumb will mount in one of them and tell the user "Look to the 4 folders, one of them is the good one".

I use that arguments with xfreerdp: /drive:'USB0,/media/usb0 /drive:'USB1,/media/usb1 /drive:'USB2,/media/usb2 /usb:rules:allow

And sometimes the USB thumb go on usb3 folder...

Thanks in advance,
